1) HSE Inspectors to Target Refurbishment Sector During February
Following a recent meeting with representatives from the HSE, we were advised that their inspectors will be targeting the refurbishment sector during February '11 They will very likely be calling on your customers who are carrying out small to medium size renovation and refurbishment projects. The focus for HSE Inspectors will be manual handling, carrying out risks assessments, using the right personal protective equipment etc.

To help consumers beat the VAT increase blues, and with rising utility costs and higher heating bills as a result of harsh winter conditions, consumers are set to benefit with savings of up to £100 off annual heating bills as a result of Superglass’ biggest ever loft insulation initiative, launched by DIY personality Craig Philips yesterday.

Working in conjunction with SSE, this CERT (Carbon Emissions Reduction Target) funded DIY initiative allows consumers access to CERT funding and therefore affordable loft insulation only available from a nationwide network of Superdad registered independent builders’ merchants. The Superdad website www.superdadonline.co.uk not only helps consumers find their local stockist but provides guidance on how to install the product and health & safety.

Michael Beard, sales and marketing director, Superglass Insulation, said: “Superdad is here to help the nation save money and help the environment. By installing insulation that is 270mm deep, consumers can save up to £100 on their annual heating bills; keep their home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer; prevent condensation and reduce their home carbon footprint by 800kg every year.”

NVQ Success

Congratulations to Reuben and Lee who have both completed their NVQ training. This is administered by the Builders Merchant Federation and is specific to the the work that we do every day.

Reuben completed the level 2 Warehousing & Storage module and Lee the level 2 Retail module. Both received their City & Guilds Certificates recently.

Leslie Johnstone

Leslie Johnstone's bid for the 2012 Olympics continued by him competing at the Southern Counties selection shoot in May.

He shot very well scoring 117 out of 125 but unfortunately Leslie missed the final by one place.

This month Leslie heads for Yorkshire and the next selection shoot. We all wish him luck!
